Mini school at the Banach Center 24.04-29.04.2006, Warszawa (Poland)

Holomorphic Symplectic Singularities

Main speaker: Manfred Lehn (Mainz)

Organizers: Slawomir Cynk, Piotr Pragacz and Tomasz Szemberg

Manfred Lehn will teach on holomorphic symplectic singularities, discussing problems of classification, deformation or resolution of symplectic singularities. There will be a parallel series of introductory lectures devoted to the Fourier-Mukai transform. The School will take place at the Banach Center, Institute of Mathematics, Polish Academy of Sciences, Warsaw, Poland.

Some practical information:

Money:

Official currency in Poland is ZLOTY (PLN). In major places Euro is also
accepted but you will get change in zloty and usually the exchange rate
is poor. One can exchange money at the airport (look out for KANTOR).
Slightly better rates are offered downtown.

How to get there:

Address: Banach Center, ul. Sniadeckich 8, Warszawa

There are two choices. Either you go by bus or by Taxi.

BUS There are two buses going from the airport to downtown:
number 188 goes directly to METRO POLITECHNIKA bus stop, this is walking
distance to the Banach Center

number 175 requires a change at the CENTRUM bus stop (next after railway
station) to any bus going going in the direction PLAC KONSTYTUCJI, you have
to walk to the bus stop at the orthogonal street: MARSZALKOWSKA

Busfare is 2,40 PLN, if you change then it's a better idea to buy a 1 hour ticket
for 3,60 PLN

TAXI  Take only taxi assigned by dispatcher! There are 3 companies: MERC,
MPT and SAWA. You can pay with your credit card. The fare should be
at most 40 PLN. If this is more, request a bill which is called "Faktura".

Hotel:

All participants stay in the Banach Center. There is no breakfast served in the Banach
Center. There is a kitchen which can be used by participants. There are also a few
places around, which offer a reasonable selection of breakfast entries.
